February 2008 Tech Day

• Tony – Dodge Ram - changed Serpentine belt on his manly RAM.   Well, at least he tried. The belt they sold him had an extra few inches of length.  The original belt didn’t look so bad so he put it back on.  
• Glenn – SVT Focus – checked pads and fluid.   Just needed additional fluid to turn off ‘brake’ light on dash.
• Len- Chrysler product mini-van – checked for tranny leak.  Turned out to be leak in case that connected front shafts to rear driveshaft.   Also recognized leak in right front caliper.   Attempted to replace the caliper but the lug nuts appeared to be stripped and locked up when trying to remove.   Len ended up getting an appointment for Monday at Big-O (the guys who stripped them) to get it fixed.   We’ll replace the caliper next tech day.
• Larry, Andrew – 72 Nova – worked much of the morning getting the car ready to bring over but it wouldn’t cooperate.  So they helped Riley on his Datsun (if Riley would like to be on this e-mail list, let me know).   Hopefully next month they’ll have better luck.
• Riley (spelling?)  (Andrew’s cousin) – 83 Datsun 280z (not Nissan!)  - changed the oil.  Even flushed the engine with extra oil….a natural result of leaving the plug out….    Also repaired ignition switch.   However for some reason the steering wheel locked only when the key was on, and was released when the key was off.   Could be a bit dangerous….   This car has a lot of fun potential.
• Dale – stopped by after the Pinewood derby at the church.   No ‘real’ car work.
• Rod
• 72 GMC – replaced 2 ball joints
• 84 Jag – removed 2 heavy leaking exhaust resonators.  Debugged faulty antenna motor – broken plastic gear.  Didn’t replace.  Will need to check the parts car.
